Searching

There is an article that I remember writing several Easters ago about a willing sacrifice based on C. S. Lewis' book The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.   So I went in search of it, planning to expand on the original thought because surely my thinking has grown and possibly changed over the years. So I searched my laptop, my external drive, every possible place where it could have been backed up. The search was in vain and I had to concede defeat.  So whatever my original thoughts were they are currently misplaced!

As I searched, however, the Easter gospel came to mind and the early disciples searching for something far more precious than a misplaced article.  Good Friday seemed to spell the end of all that they had been working toward with Jesus but at sunrise life changing events begin to unfold and the lives of the early disciples, and countless followers since, were forever changed.  Sunrise brought a search for Jesus when the empty tomb was discovered and it seems that all of those who followed Jesus, deserted Jesus forgot that he told them great things would unfold from his death.  The search, if you will, begins but ends just as quickly when Jesus begins to locate each of them again and offers them an opportunity to continue what they had started together.

This search is the one that we are continuously on as we journey in faith.  The search reminds us of the opportunity that we have been afforded to be in a relationship with Jesus, despite our shortcomings.  The search reminds us that we can be found no matter what we have done.  The search reminds us that there is always hope and the presence of God is ever near.  The search brings comfort and new opportunity.  In this Easter season I hope that you find what it is you are searching for and that it gives you continued hope and reaffirms your faith.

C. S. Lewis wrote  "It means that though the Witch knew the Deep Magic, there is a magic deeper still which she did not know. Her knowledge goes back only to the dawn of time. But if she could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before Time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
―Aslan describing the Deeper Magic (Chapter 15)

A new age begins and a new hope dawns continue on with your search
