On the road again... goin' places that I've never been

Travel is the only thing that you buy that makes you richer.

Travel days are weary but exciting.  We waited for the water taxi, had a twenty minute ride to the airport dock, a fifteen minute walk to the terminal and then a wait for the airline counter to open.

We did a last walk about Venice in the morning enjoying the beautiful sunshine.  We are only on our fourth day but we are all tired.  I suspect our closing down the lounge bar at the hotel might be a contributing factor.  The whole day was lovely and we were all reluctant to call it a night.  About one thirty in the morning though we made our way to the third floor and settled in.  Seven thirty sure comes early!

Venice was a joy.  As we stood by the dock waiting for the taxi one of our friends commented that we still had valid bus passes.  At nearly the same moment four tourists exited the hotel and began to make their way along the alley.  It was suggested we should give them the tickets but no one wanted to run after them.  So I snapped up all four tickets ran after these perfect strangers and handed them over.  They were a little shocked!  Wanted to know where I was from but did not volunteer where they were from, and I didn’t ask! Said the tickets were a real blessing and I went back to my DH and friends hoping that they will enjoy riding around in the public transport.  Practice random acts of kindness and the ticket hopefully won’t go to waste!

By now you are thinking get on with it .  What have you done or where are you going today.   We are off to Budapest.  Currently we are travelling on Air France to Paris where we have a layover and then off to Budapest. Yes it is a roundabout way to do it but by far the cheapest.

Today there are a lot fewer pictures but there are still a few to enjoy.  Tomorrow the exploration of a new place awaits….stacking dolls and ornately decorated eggs are two of the items that we are to keep an eye out for and yes my DH is blissfully unaware that I have googled the top ten things to do here!

There was no opportunity for a picture with our significant others on the gondola ride but it did not prevent us from having a picture together

Masks and costumes are a regular sight in Venice so I would be remiss to not include a picture

The posts that mark the water highways

More canal views.  Can one really see too many of these peaceful scenes

Venice and surrounding islands from the air

Another mode of travel but not one we are taking anytime soon
